Salou Shooting: Antonio Santiago Santiago Man Shot Dead in Broad-Daylight Attack in Spanish Tourist Region

A fatal shooting in southern Spain has prompted a police investigation after a man was shot dead in the city of Almería on Friday, October 16, 2026. Although the incident has drawn attention under searches for “Salou shooting,” the report provided by The Sun places the shooting in La Chanca, Almería, rather than Salou, a separate Spanish tourist destination.

According to the report, police were called to Blas de Lezo Street in the La Chanca neighbourhood near the waterfront shortly after midday. The victim was reportedly shot twice at approximately 12:23 p.m. and died at the scene.

Spanish National Police launched an investigation, with officers from the specialised and violent crime unit working to establish the circumstances surrounding the killing. The report stated that the suspected shooter had fled and that a search was underway. The suspect’s identity and a possible motive were not provided in the supplied account.

The shooting occurred two days after another fatal shooting in Almería. On Wednesday, cleaning-service worker Antonio Santiago was reportedly killed at around 5:30 a.m. in an industrial area as he walked towards his car after finishing work at a recycling plant.

According to the report, sources told Diario de Almería that investigators did not believe the two killings were connected. Authorities would need to confirm any further information about the cases as their investigations continued.

The incidents have brought renewed attention to violent crime in the region. However, the available report does not establish that a shooting occurred in Salou itself, and the Almería incident should not be misidentified as a Salou shooting.

Further information about the victim, the suspect and the investigation had not been confirmed in the supplied report.
